Pre/ post care
The area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated.
Please follow carefully if you want your tattoo to heal well and retain the color.
Pre-Care is so important to get the skin at optimal condition for color deposit and prevention of excessive bleeding.
One of the easiest things to do is drink water in the weeks leading up to your procedure. Dehydrated skin is always stressed and easily aggravated, as well as slow to heal!
After your procedure the healing begins.
The focus is on retaining pigment.
An aftercare balm is good to have handy and ready to go immediately after your procedure.
I recommend ‘The Body Bakery’ or ‘After Art’ - both are NZ companies with natural products.
Use a clean cotton round or back of cold teaspoon to apply - NOT fingers.
Stay completely out of our harsh NZ sun for the first day or two when you cannot put sunblock on your open wound.
Eating foods high in Vitamin C and E or medicinal properties like garlic is also a good idea.
Healing is individual and the speed can be largely dictated by your age.
Here is a visual guide to the process.
20 years old allow 4 weeks healing time after powder brows.
35 years of age allow around 6 weeks.
50 years of age allow around 8 weeks.
I will advise after the first procedure, when it is appropriate to book the second.
Remember to stay out of the sun while you are healing.
